… which I have completely failed to adjust (not that I tried all that hard). I managed to get to work for 8am two days out of three, a couple of weeks ago, but since then I’ve arrived after 10 every time.

It’s partly because I hate getting out of bed in the morning, and partly because I can’t seem to manage to go to bed before midnight. Possibly, if I was trying to get up at 5am and go to bed at 10pm every single day, I could do it. But when it’s only three days out of seven, it’s not really working.

Damn.

Also today, I am mostly … hoping I don’t squash any frogs on the way home tonight

… because I killed at least a dozen last week. It’s the time of year when they’re all hopping about after dark on wet evenings, looking for luuuuurrrrve… and finding a gruesome death under my wheels instead. Poor sods.

Today, I am mostly … feeling damp

… on my right-hand side only.

Why? Well, I took my car through a much-needed car wash… only to discover that there’s a problem with the seal on the driver’s door. Water gushed through; I completely failed to stem the tide with some tissues I had handy; and I ended up with drips all down the inside of the door plus large wet patches on my thigh and elbow.
Bah.

Although at least the car’s now clean, and ready for me to deal with the rust patches which are due to the couple of knocks I’ve had in the last month or so.
Double-bah.

Today, I am mostly … cutting hair, badly

… but then it is the first time I’ve tried it. Colin generally has a Number One cut (1/8 inch or 3mm) and is fed up of paying the barber when we could do it at home with some clippers. So this evening, we finally tackled his scalp with his new clippers… well, /I/ tackled his scalp.

I didn’t do that bad of a job once I got used to it. The problem came when he went to look in the mirror and then returned to point out a patch that was a bit long. I sat him down again; applied clippers to head; and then realised that I hadn’t put the guard back on that adjusts the length of cut, and had therefore shaved a small portion of his hair right to the scalp… Ooops.

We dithered whether to shave the lot, but I pointed out that that would be a lot harder for me to get right, and that the missing patch will grow back in a few days anyway. So he’s now gone down the pub with that extra bald patch in his hair… I told him to blame me.

Also today, I am mostly … still lamenting yesterday’s rugby match

… in which Wales lost to Scotland. Bah. Scotland didn’t play that well, but Wales were embarrassingly worse. It’s not been a good Six Nations so far.

And also today, I am mostly … hungover

… which is entirely my own fault. It’s worn off now, of course, but I had too much red wine and gin (never a good mix) at Marion’s last night. Also pizza and films, but it’s almost certainly the booze that’s to blame for the very bizarre hangover I had this morning during which I felt fine one moment and horribly nauseous the next. Some cold pizza and a cup of tea sorted it out though, mostly. And it’s the last time for a while that I’ll be doing that.

Today, I am mostly … cursing the snow

… in the sense of putting the evil eye on it, rather than swearing at it. Why? Well, because there isn’t any.

This always happens (well, it’s at least the third year this has happened). The forecasters predict snow to follow the next day. I decide to work from home because the travel conditions will be bad. I wake up the next morning - no snow. I wait all day - no snow.

It’s embarrassing.

However, the weather is bloody cold - I just went out to feed the birds and nearly froze. It’s a good thing that my cats all have thick fluffy coats, seeing as they live outdoors/in the garage.

Today, I am mostly … trying to be healthy

… and sort-of succeeding. I went for a lunchtime walk, anyway, and I got to the gym yesterday. I have plenty of fruit and veg (well, carrots) to eat today, and I’m drinking lots of water. (Except at the moment - I’m drinking diet Coke because I need my caffeine.) It’s a lovely sunny day, and tomorrow’s supposed to be the same, so hopefully I’ll get some walkies in over the weekend. The forecast is hinting at snow for Sunday onwards, on high ground at least, so I’d better make the most of the sun.

Also today, I am mostly … nurturing the plot bunnies

… that have been leaping out at me over the past few days. Good little bunnies! I haven’t written anything since the end of November (aka NaNoWriMo) so it’ll be good to get some done.
